I probably will not use UShip again. I had some farm equipment shipped from Montana to Washington state and found the UShip experience totally frustrating. The shipper did well and I was happy with him and his service.
I do not like the extremes USip goes to in order to prevent communication between the provider and the user until Uship gets their fee. I had things I wanted to speak to the provider about but could not until I accepted his bid. Being able to talk to the provider in person would be a much better way to decide if this is a good match.
Then when I asked the provider a question in the box provided, I could not believe it when they said my message would be flagged if I referred to the deposit as a UShip fee! How childish is that! It is exactly a UShip fee and I doubt you are fooling anyone by implying that it is not.
The other thing I find interesting is UShip's disclaimer regarding liability for anything, and insisting that USip is not acting as a freight broker. Since UShip's services involve a fee for booking the shipping, and Uship is a for profit business I'm quite sure a court of law would view things differntly.
I would not expect USip to publish this, but if they do maybe they have more integrity than I think.
