I shipped 4 pallets of boxes and 2 sofas from the UK to UT. I'd had them in storage in the UK, which was costing a lot every month - around $150. I contacted a shipper I had used before and they wanted $5400 to ship to UT! This was at the limit of making it not really worthwhile. The shipment was mainly books and a few personal items, so it wouldn't have been earth-shattering if I had to ditch them. I found the uShip site and submitted a request. Within a couple of days I had a bid of $3800 which was more in line with my expectations. I was a bit nervous about using the service as I didn't really know who the shippers were and I read all of the warnings on the site about what not to do. It nearly put me off, especially when there were problems with the payment - they initially said use Paypal, then came back and asked for a wire transfer. It was a bit of a leap of faith sending $3800 by wire to people I'd found through a website! However, they were as good as their word and shipped my goods successfully, even deducting the wire transfer fee from the price. As I'm writing this story I'm sitting on one of my sofas, surrounded by my books. It's a nice feeling. Although I was nervous about using uShip, especially since my type of shipment seemed a bit out of the norm for the site, it worked well for me. I got my belongings shipped safely and for a reasonable price. Based on my single experience, I would certainly consider uShip for any other shipping I needed. David
