Many of my suppliers are on the West Coast (I'm in NJ) - and my shipping costs have gotten ridiculous!
The final straw was a $498 shipping charge on $3000 worth of inventory. How can I be competitive paying shipping charges that are 17% of my wholesale cost?
My next order was shipped by truck - an even bigger order ($4000 worth of inventory) went for only a bit over $300. The only problem is that its only once every several months that I order that much at one time.
After that positive experience I decided to shop around and find the least expensive LTL carriers. UShip found me a provider that would ship an order at around $200; which means I can make slightly smaller orders (~$3000) every couple months from that vendor.
