I purchased a used tandem bicycle out-of-state with every intention of driving to pick it up myself. But after pondering the drive time (17 hours all told), and the cost of gas plus lodging, I decided to give uship a shot (I'd used them a year prior on a motorcycle shipment from CA to Seattle with great success). Anyway, I didn't have much time to coordinate the whole shebang since the weekend was fast approaching and I'd have to hit the road if I ended up without a carrier. I figured I had *maybe* two days for people to see the listing, read reviews on any bidders, etc... all the while keeping the nervous seller (of the bike) in limbo. So I posted my ad, and 26 MINUTES later I had a bid very near my target price with great feedback and matching logistics. Five minutes later I had the bid accepted, deposit payed, and contact info traded. The carrier (evergreen motorsports -- love them!) called the bicycle seller to arrange a pickup and we were good to go. A few days later the bike arrived safe and sound, right to my doorstep. And instead of driving all weekend I got to have some fun, saved money on gas, and didn't have to find a motel at two in the morning. The shipping price, btw, was less than fuel alone would have cost me. I can't say enough good things about uship.com. All of the difficult logistics were automatically handled (source & destination addresses, bidding, item description, rough pick-up and delivery times, deposites, etc.) And this was for a very awkward item that needed special care when moving -- uship allowed me to find a mover in a matter of minutes, and with no surprises on either end since all the details were covered. uship rocks, as do the great carriers I've found through uship.com.
