Raising livestock without a flatbed trailer has really been a difficult experience. With the large amounts of feed we go through, I am always ordering large quantities of hay, usually at ridiculous prices because of delivery fees.
Last week I found a crazy deal on some good quality HUGE alfalfa hay bales. I was ready to order away, until I learned that the supplier didn't deliver. I was about to give up on the great opportunity when I learned of Uship. I quickly placed a bid, and within hours I had a pretty reasonable bid. After working for a few days to arrange a time that would work for not only me, but also the supplier and my new Uship deliverer, I finally got everything confirmed.
The night before the delivery, I was almost dreading the problems that I just "knew" would come about. After all, I was buying a product I had never seen, from a buyer I had never seen, being delivered by a driver I had never seen. Fortunately, everything went so smoothly, and I had a great experience with both parties. When the bales arrived, I had no way to get the 800lb. monsters off the truck. After a tough maneuvering job with the truck and trailer into a tight area, my helpful deliverer quickly gave a hand and we pushed the bales off the truck.
I will now no longer worry about finding a hay supplier that doesn't deliver, because I have Uship! I was able to save a lot of money by getting this good deal while I could and not paying crazy shipping expenses. I also now know a really reliable shipper with a good trailer that I would use again, though I am thinking I will eventually buy my own trailer. :-)
